|Keynoter David Pietrusza's talk quoted Frank Sinatra ("Yeah, kid. First: Do the best you can.
Second: Give ’em all you got. Third and most important: Remember, they didn’t come to see
you in the first place.”), Branch Rickey ("Luck is the residue of design"), (sort of) Calvin
Coolidge ("Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is
more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost
a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and
determination alone are omnipotent."), himself ("The hardest boss you will ever have is when
you work for yourself") and the same book that Rebekah Izzo wasn't supposed to quote either
("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.").
He concluded by asking graduates:
teachers. And, just for the hell of it, thank a random taxpayer. They made it all possible."
